Great intro to Vienna. We did the Hop On Hop Off with the Danube cruise + Giant Ferris Wheel combo—excellent value—but you can’t cover all routes in one day, so plan two. Buses were punctual, views from the top deck were brilliant despite the crowds. Highlights: Schönbrunn Palace, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Belvedere (hello, Klimt), and Prater’s Giant Ferris Wheel for sweeping city views. The Danube cruise was a relaxing reset. Memorable, flexible, and efficient way to see the city.

The cruise itself is very chic, the views, the ambiance. The food was so-so, I think it could have been better. But the desserts, the fruit was great. Strawberries, pineapples, watermelons, and more. Delicious cocktails.

Very good experience, to see nice landmarks along the Danube Canal. Staff are friendly, we opted for 2 course lunch, and food is great. I also bought audio guide, however, it's actually free.

The food was good and the trip itself is organised well. The only downside is that there is only 30 minutes to go from the ship to the Bratislava tour, and one has to rush.

Vienna City Cruise: See Vienna from a whole new angle

Step aboard a Vienna sightseeing cruise and take in the city’s grand architecture, cultural landmarks, and vibrant riverside charm, without the crowds. Whether you’re looking for a quick daytime tour, a romantic evening on the water, or a full-day escape to nearby towns, Vienna’s river cruises offer something for every traveler.

Things to know before booking your Vienna sightseeing cruise tickets

  • Cruise routes and durations vary based on the type of cruise and the ticket you select.. The City Sightseeing Cruise on Danube Canal with Optional Lunch lasts just 75 minutes and runs along the Danube Canal, offering close-up views of Vienna's inner districts. The Grand Sightseeing Cruise, on the other hand, is a 3.5-hour round trip that passes through two locks —Nussdorf and Freudenau, and offers wider river views, perfect if you want a longer, more laid-back experience.
  • Not all evening cruises include food, only the Sunset Summer Cruise and the Bratislava or Dürnstein: Day Trip from Vienna include meals as part of the ticket. Other daytime options like the City Sightseeing or Grand Sightseeing Cruise do not include meals by default, but you can usually purchase snacks and drinks onboard.
  • Some cruises are seasonal or operate on limited days like the Bratislava or Dürnstein: Day Trip from Vienna is not available daily and usually run only during warmer months. Always check the cruise calendar before finalizing your itinerary, especially if traveling between October and April.
  • Cruises typically leave from Schwedenplatz or Reichsbrücke, both easily accessible via public transport. The boarding location is listed clearly on your booking confirmation—so double-check it before your travel date.
  • Some Vienna city sightseeing cruises offer open-air decks, while others have more indoor seating. If you want the best photo spots or fresh air, opt for a cruise with a sun deck and arrive early to get a good seat.
